Pre-conditioning is the schedule of practices used in preparing feeder calves to withstand the stress of leaving their mothers, learning to eat new kinds of feed, and shipping from the farm or ranch to the feedlot.  It consists of administering generous amounts of TLC (tender loving care) along with immunological practices and treatment for parasites.
